This is a whole new chapter!
Today we started a new bimester. I had the insane idea of bringing a puzzle on to class. It's a 700 piece puzzle of New York that Glows in the Dark (very 80's of me, I know) and thought that maybe they were not going to be too excited about it. I was wrong.
Apparently, I teach nerds.
There is a buzzing excitement about the puzzle and this has made students work faster. Because, well, they want to get their grabby hands on a puzzle. Let you know, this is a class of 9th graders...
They have the assignment to present a 5 minute presentation on a topic. I have divided them into two teams: The Strawberry Shortcakes and the Pecan Southern Suprises...
The same dynamic with the 7th graders, only I gave them the names of cookies. The 8th graders? Pie.
I expect this dynamic to work well on their speaking and language skills. I am making the lower speakers go at it first and have them have fun while they are at it. I know that perhaps this will crash and burn, but as we have done with our 20 time project, I also expect they will take the project at hand and make great things with it.
Pictures to follow...
